“HS2 IS AN ICONIC PROJECT THAT WILL MAKE COUNTLESS CAREERS – ENHANCED BY AN INCREDIBLE WORKING ATMOSPHERE”
SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER
Nearly every member of the HS2 team shares a common excitement about working on an immense infrastructure project that will leave a legacy for future generations. Senior Project Manager Nicola agrees with this sentiment, but her reason for joining the project is even closer to her heart – because Nicola is passionate about helping Birmingham finally get the recognition it deserves. And as she is leading the design and delivery phase of Curzon Street Station, there really isn’t a better person for the role.
“It is becoming more and more evident that there is a ‘buzz’ about Birmingham thanks to the advent of HS2 in the city. We’re facilitating regeneration in the area, and new opportunities are opening up across the organisation, so if you can bring enthusiasm and a thirst for knowledge, you’ll do well.”
Leading a multidiscipline team, Nicola works collaboratively with a huge cross section of industry experts such as architects, designers and engineers. Designing Curzon Street Station to incorporate “technology of the future”, she’s working with concepts that will revolutionise rail travel. “The emerging technology and creativity that is beginning to develop is phenomenal. From ticketless travel to immersive station experiences, the work is truly inspiring.”
With her working day overseeing everything from “exhumations and listed buildings to ground remediation and complex engineering challenges” Nicola enjoys the diversity that a career with HS2 brings – but it is the supportive atmosphere that makes the organisation stand out.
“The work/life balance is excellent, there are development opportunities and mentoring schemes, and most importantly, colleagues who support each other. I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of this wonderful, passionate and committed team.”
