As an Assistant Commercial Manager at HS2 you will undertake Pre and Post Contract Administration of a portfolio of projects, which includes supporting the Commercial manager on the whole project lifecycle-from pre tender through to post contract, cost administration and reporting through to the project close out.

 

About the role:

To support the on-going post contract administration process leading to successful project closeout. We desire following key accountabilities:-

  • Measure from drawings or on site to establish quantities and measure change.
  • Assist in preparation of estimates for works and reviewing the Costs.
  • Support the assessment of the interim valuations and process payment certificates.
  • Assist in preparation of tender documents and post contract documentation.
  • Provide support in managing the change control process.
  • Provide support with the final account settlements and internal reconciliations to facilitate project close out as per the project budgets and project plan within agreed timescales.
  • Provide support on periodic financial reporting including Cost Forecasting, Anticipated Final Cost, Cost of Work Done, Gross Billing and Current Contract Value.

 

About You:

You will either already be working in the industry and thus be able to show us

  • A good understanding of the commercial management and the contract administration process mainly those related to cost management, payment, variations, change management and final account settlement.
  • An appreciation of construction industry is preferable.
  • An understanding of Target Cost and Fixed Price contracts.
  • Can demonstrate good communication skills in all areas including written, oral and in presentations.
  • Good IT literacy including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Working towards membership of the RICS or similar recognised body advantageous.

 

Alternatively, you are maybe returning to work following a career break or changing direction and can thus show us

  • A good grounding in the management of suppliers, procurement or customer relationships,
  • An understanding of contracts and basic contract law,
  • A high degree of numerical literacy,
  • Good communication skills in all areas including written, oral and in presentations.
  • Good IT literacy including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Recognised secondary or tertiary educational qualifications and progress in professional examinations in your previously chosen field.
